Open Broadcaster Software - The best and most powerful screen recorder for gamer and you-tubers.

What is OBS?

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free and open-source cross-platform streaming and recording program built with Qt and maintained by the OBS Project. As of 2016, the software is now referred to as OBS Studio. There are versions of OBS Studio available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux distributions. OBS is funded on Open Collective.  Wikipedia

OBS Studio can also make full use of multi-core CPUs for improved performance, and can record at 60 FPS (or even higher). It might take a little while to set it up exactly how you want, but OBS Studio is by far the best and most powerful screen recorder for gamer and you-tubers.

Where to download OBS?

You can visit here to download OBS Studio. Just select you appropriate Operating System

System requirements

The original Open Broadcaster Software bundle comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and is available only for Windows.

Windows release of OBS Studio supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.  You need at least 4 GB of RAM.

There are other sites where you can download OBS for Windows 7.

What to do first?

I made this guide to help you get started and I’m serious about it. If you have the minimum system requirements then you can proceed in downloading and installing OBS Studio.

Organize your projects

Create a new folder for your project. Inside your new folder, create these sub folders. You need to create these folders so you can easily look up for things you need in regard to your project.

1.       Document folder – This is where you put your document files.

2.       List of projects – This is where you place your projects or future projects you want to do in the future

3.       Photos- This is where you place your photos, thumbnails, etc.

4.       PowerPoint- You can create templates using PowerPoint. I will discuss that in the later lesson

5.       Sound effects- This is where you place your sound effects collections

6.       Videos – This is where you keep your videos.
